Cheon
tells us that he decided to major in Optics because he realized
that while being a very important field of study, it is one
that is relatively mysterious. “There are many undiscovered
areas in optics. I want to make a foot print where nobody
has been before.” Cheon doesn’t mind the heavy workload of
being an Optics student because, he says, “I enjoy what I
do and learning is what’s most important to me.” In his free
time, Cheon enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and cooking.
One of Cheon’s main interests within Optics is lens design
and more specifically, lens design in cell phone cameras.

Andrea Marron is a Senior and Optics major at the University
of Rochester. Andrea chose Optics because, she says, “it seemed
like the most interesting field in Engineering”. She is one
of a few Optics majors whose true passion is business. Andrea
plans on getting an MBA but chose to major in a hard science
as an undergraduate "to learn how to think analytically and
to learn more about technology". Andrea will be graduating in
May of 2008 and is currently searching for a job in the business
aspect of technology. Andrea's interests outside of Optics include
yoga, reading, cooking, design and traveling. |
